8 Must-See Versions of *That* Trending Philippines Travel Level Map Generator

How well-traveled are you within the country? Inspired by a similar map generator for Japan, this DIY map generator can show you just how much of the Philippines you’ve seen. Created by Singapore-based Filipino software engineer Denz del Villar, My Philippines Travel Level is an interactive web app that allows you to create a map that shows how many Philippine provinces you’ve visited. Whether you’ve spent several nights there or just passed by on a road trip, you can add it to your map. Each province can be categorized into six levels:

  • Lived there — you spent a significant portion of your life in that area
  • Stayed there — you slept at least a night in that area
  • Visited there — you spent some hours exploring the area
  • Alighted there — you just dropped off for a short stopover, layover, or transfer
  • Passed there — you passed by that area but did not set foot
  • Never been there — you need to travel there soon

Since it was launched last April 13, so many Filipinos have created their own PH Travel Level maps. Here are some of the most note-worthy we’ve seen online so far:

 

McDonald’s

Simple yet funny, McDo’s entry shows places that have a McDo branch (colored) and those that don’t have one so far (white). It seems this particular McDo traveler has a lot of exes — and a lot of McDo staff crushies. Some netizens, however, noted that it’s not accurate since McDonald’s has branches in a few provinces in white like South Cotabato and General Santos.

 

BPI

BPI kept its map simple. Since they have an app accessible online anywhere, they can confidently say they’ve banked in every province in the Philippines. Pak!

 

Camella Homes

Camella Homes’ version of the map showed where they built properties in the country, but it backfired when netizens called them out for destroying farmlands. They have since deleted their post, but eagle-eyed netizens have already saved a copy of the post. Another netizen even created a map meme in reaction to Camella Homes’.

 

Viu

Korean drama fans, rise! As team bahay, your map probably looks something like Viu’s, doesn’t it? Just change it to your hometown.

 

Katinko

Katinko’s version of the map is for all the travel junkies out there — or just the titos and titas, or mga feeling tito and tita dahil sa masakit na balakang. Katinko is definitely a travel essential.

 

Leni Robredo

Even former vice president Leni Robredo joined the trend, sharing her own version of the map. Netizens praised her for “serving the public well,” pertaining to how the Angat Buhay chair visited different provinces of the country during her time in office to meet with local government units and tribe leaders, oversee relief operations, and monitor the programs under Angat Buhay.

 

PGAG

Former VP Leni was able to travel to each Philippine province. Meanwhile, ikaw ganito lang, kasi strict ang parents mo. A lot of people can probably relate to PGAG’s meme. Oof.

 

Salaries

On a more serious note, Twitter user @rmllrd created a version that mapped out the daily wage levels of each province. The lack of variety just emphasizes how hard life in the Philippines is now.
