The newest and hottest meme on social media right now came from a head-scratching quote by Sandro Marcos, Ilocos Norte’s 1st district representative, Senior Deputy Majority Leader, and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s son. When asked what he thought of the weakening peso against the U.S. dollar, Marcos explained: “The peso is not weak, because the peso is weak. The peso is weak because the dollar is strong.”
Marcos went on to expound that during worldwide crises, people buy dollars thinking that it’s the “safest currency to get against all other currencies.” When the demand for the dollar increases, it becomes stronger.
While he isn’t wrong, the explanation could have been better as it only confused most Filipinos. It sent the Internet for a spin and, Pinoys being Pinoys, it quickly became a meme. Here are the funniest ones.
