K-Drama ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ Is the ~*Healing*~ Show You Should Be Watching Now

If you’re in need of a new Korean drama to serve as your ~healing~ show after a long work day, look no further. Extraordinary Attorney Woo is the new ongoing K-drama that would fill that void. Even celebrities like BTS’ RM are absolutely hooked on this show!

It has a refreshing and touching story.

The drama follows the story of a genius lawyer as she tackles different cases as a rookie. While that sounds typical, what makes our attorney extraordinary is that she’s on the autism spectrum. It shows her everyday life as she prepares for work, eats kimbap for every meal, processes paperwork, presents her defense at court, connects with her co-workers at her new job, and a whole lot more.

It has a heroine you can’t help but root for.

Our genius lawyer is Woo Young-woo, who introduces herself with a list of words read the same way whether forward or backward just like her name. When she was five, she and her father learned she has autism. While she struggles in social situations, she’s whip-smart and has a great affinity for the law. A couple of decades later, she graduates on top of her class at law school and enters one of the leading law firms in the country.

And it has a wonderful set of supporting characters.

Aside from our endearing heroine, we meet a long list of wonderful characters who are always all-out in cheering for Young-woo. She has her ever-supportive dad (who was the reason she got into law in the first place), loyal best friend Geurami, lawyer sunbae Myung-seok, spring sunshine classmate Choi Soo-yeon, walking green flag Lee Jun-ho, and a whole slew of people cheering her on.

Park Eun-bin displays stunning acting prowess.

Behind our lovable characters are talented actors — none more so than lead actress Park Eun-bin. The actress has a long list of filmography, as well as award nominations and wins. But many believe that her work as the extraordinary attorney Woo Young-woo is her best so far. And we can’t help but agree!

It puts a spotlight on autism.

As our protagonist is on the autism spectrum, we get a better understanding of the everyday struggles they encounter. From missing social cues to being discriminated against even despite her exceptional talent, Young-woo shows us just how difficult it is to live in this world as a neurodivergent person.

…and other similarly important topics.

With each case that Young-woo encounters, she also teaches viewers a new lesson about people and life. In the first few weeks, we’ve seen her deal with LGBT rights, academic pressure, suicide, discrimination against North Korean refugees, and moral ethics.

It has a lot of trivia about whales.

From the get go, our endearing heroine shows viewers that her love for whales has no bounds. Her room is full of whales from the wallpaper and figurines to pillows and blankets. She also talks about whales at every opportunity she is given, so we’re given a lot of interesting trivia about the sea mammals. Every time you see a whale splash moment on screen, you can bet that Young-woo just got a lightbulb moment that would solve her case.

It’s extraordinarily healing.

With a balanced mix of heartwarming, comedy, and kilig, Extraordinary Attorney Woo can make you laugh, cry, and empathize with the characters all at the same time. You can get the full ~healing~ experience every Wednesday and Thursday on Netflix.
