Korean drama Twenty Five Twenty One broke the hearts of many viewers after that ending. And it’s not just us — actress Kim Tae-ri’s family too have been rooting for lead couple Na Hee-do (played by the actress) and Baek Yi-jin (played by Nam Joo-hyuk), also known as BaekDo among fans.
No spoilers even for family
Kim Tae-ri said that she actually did not tell even her own family about the ending of the show, especially on whether Baek Yi-jin and Na Hee-do would really end up together in the future. “I’m the type of person who never tells the ending,” she said in an interview.

So just like us viewers at home, Kim Tae-ri’s family went through a lot of emotions after seeing Episode 14. In an interview set in 2009, anchor Baek Yi-jin congratulated national fencing star Na Hee-do not just on her new gold medal, but also her marriage.
The actress also shared that her group chat with her family actually recorded the intense reactions from them. “There is a family group chat room, and when I saw the scene, there was a riot,” she said.
“We believe [in BaekDo]”
Still, after Episode 14 aired, Kim Tae-ri’s family said they still believe in BaekDo (as we do!).

“My family said, ‘We know you’re going to marry Baek Yi-jin. We believe it!’” she shared. “I thought that was the real audience reaction.”
And yes, Miss Kim Tae-ri! It really was. Viewers all over the world believed in that. But unfortunately, the final two episodes of the show treated viewers to a lot of heartbreak and tears instead as the BaekDo couple broke up and went their separate ways.

Viewers even had so many theories — from surname changes in the future to the possibility of Alzheimer’s disease — trying to hold on to the hope that Na Hee-do and Baek Yi-jin would end up together. Only for that ending to happen and for us to never see Baek Yi-jin in the present/adult timeline. BRB, we’re still crying.
